I love fall. It’s so cozy and the colors are so warm. There are so many fun fall activities that you can only do during this time of the year, or are the most fun during autumn. Check out this bucket list to get ideas for activities for your family, friends and partner.

Decorate for Fall

You have to start your fall bucket list by surrounding yourself will all the fall accessories to get you in the right autumnal headspace. Whether it be some spooky decor or a cute pumpkin spice pillow from my Redbubble shop, just decorate that house/apartment/room, sister!

Go Stargazing!

There’s nothing like staring up at the stars on a crisp fall night. Grab some blankets, hot chocolate and your family, and get outside to watch the stars.

Pick Pumpkins

Maybe this isn’t the most unique fall bucket list activity, but there’s no way you can have a fall bucket list without picking pumpkins! It’s the perfect place to get your front step decor, and you’re supporting a local farm along the way! Plus, who doesn’t love a good fall photoshoot among the pumpkins.

Eat Apple Cider Donuts

Every single grocery store is going to have apple cider donuts, and you better have one! I love a good apple cider donut. If you can’t find them locally, make them at home!

Get Spooked at a Haunted House

Nothing is more spooky than heading to a local haunted house, or maze or walk. I don’t know about you, but I love the excitement of going on a haunted walk. Plus, if you have a local spooky spot, it’s great to support the local cause!

Have Fun on a Hay Ride

At no other time of the year can you jump in a hay covered trailed pulled by a tractor, nor do you really want to. So get your hay one and hop in that itchy, scratchy, must do fall activity.

Get Fall Fit on a Hike

Listen, I’m not going to force you to exercise, but hiking can be super fun, and it’s even more beautiful during the fall. You get to see the gorgeous changing of the leaves, and enjoy spending time with the family. P.S. you don’t have to hike, maybe just take an easy stroll around a local park.

Watch the Leaves Change

The best part of fall is the changing weather and the changing of the leaves. Admire the fall vibes every day.

Cheer on your Favorite Team at a Football Game

Or do that virtual thing they’re doing right now. I love a good local high school game, though. There’s nothing like sipping some of that concession stand hot chocolate while you cheer on the local team!

Visit your Local Farmer’s Market

I love a local farmer’s market. It’s the best place to buy produce that will make perfect fall dishes, like apple and pumpkin pies. Maybe, add a new plant to your collection to brighten up your house.

Be a Kid Again and Trick or Treat

Look, I’m not expecting you to go door to door with all the kids, but if you can, dress up and hand out candy from your front stoop. Or, set up something fun with your friends and do adult trick or treating at each of their houses! OR, if you have kids or can borrow some, have some fun bringing them around, and maybe grab a few pieces of candy from them.

Go Apple Picking

I love a fresh apple, and what’s more satisfying than picking them yourself? And you can almost guarantee that the farm will have fresh made apple cider and apple donuts. Nothing is tastier than that!

Get Scared on a Ghost Tour

Paranormal ghost tours are so fun! I love listening to scary ghost stories while I get to explore my city. The best ghost tour I’ve ever been on is in Providence, Rhode Island at Providence Ghost Tour, so if you’re headed that way, definitely check it out! If you’re not around there, I bet you can find something close to your hometown.

Bake All of your Favorite Fall Treats

There’s nothing to complete a crisp fall day like cozying up by the oven and baking some fall treats. Maybe, mix up my Blueberry Lemon Scone by replacing the blueberries with cranberries and the lemon with some orange zest.

Drink Everyone’s Favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte

There really is nothing like a lovely and warm pumpkin spice latte on a cool fall day, and you only get it for a limited time of the year. Cozy up with your seasonal coffee in front of your laptop decorated with your cute “but first, pumpkin spice” sticker.

Make Jack-O-Lanterns with Your Family

Your ultimate fall bucket list wouldn’t be complete without carving pumpkins. Maybe it’s a little messy, but it’s absolutely worth it to see those jack-o-lanterns lit up every night when you come home.

Hop into a Leaf Pile

I remember when I was little, my grandparents had woods in their yard where they would pile their leaves and my sister and I loved to jump into those piles. Like it was the highlight of our life for some reason. Relive those moments in childhood and hop into a leaf pile. I guarantee it will bring back some good memories.

Read a Spooky Book

Cozy up on your couch with a fluffy blanket, a warm drink, and the scariest book you can find. Don’t know where to start? Stephen King is the top horror writer, and you can’t go wrong with any of his books.

Buy Gifts at a Craft Fair

I love being able to support local, and where better to start than at a local craft fair. They have unique, handmade items. Start your Christmas shopping early, and keep that budget in line.

Celebrate Oktoberfest

What a fun way to celebrate the season of fall than by drinking some beer and eating some tasty snacks! Combine the two with my Guinness Chocolate Cupcake recipe, and impress your friends with your baking skills.

Host a Bonfire

Bonfires are the most fun fall activity. Grab your marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers (and probably some wine), and start that fire. Gather around with your family and friends and enjoy the warmth among the crisp air.

Make Pinecone Bird Feeders

This is definitely a fun one for the family. Start gathering the pinecones falling in your yard, get some peanut butter and bird seed, and you’ve got yourself a little bird feeder. This is a good fall activity for the little ones. All you have to do is tie some string to the pinecone, spread peanut butter on the outside and roll in some bird seed. Ta-da! A fun and easy project for the family.

Have a Sunflower Photoshoot

I haven’t had mine yet, but what a fun, autumn activity. Grab your partner, your kids, if you have them, or just do a solo shoot with some friends among the sunflowers. Their gorgeous bright color is the perfect match to the fall atmosphere.

Watch a Drive in Movie

Bonus points if it’s scary! Stack your blankets up in the back of your truck and cozy up together under the stars to watch a movie.

Get Lost in a Corn Maze

Corn mazes pop up everywhere during the fall. They’re the perfect activity for families of all ages. They’re fun, and make your brain work a bit (but not too much).

Go Camping

Camping is the combinations of so many of these fall bucket list activities. You can bring your pumpkin spice lattes, stargaze, and build a campfire all in one. Maybe even bring some soup on that trip, and you’ve crossed off four bucket list items in one.

Visit a Winery

Wineries are love, wineries are life. Sip a good crisp apple wine, while you hang out with your friends and eat a good charcuterie board. Bundle up in your sweaters and enjoy that wine, honey!

Get Cozy with Some Soup

Soup might just be my favorite fall food. I mean it’s warm, it’s cozy, it’s the epitome of autumn. (I just sang autumn in my head like Jean Ralphio from Parks and Rec) Make some yourself, or get your favorite soup from your favorite local cafe.

Have Your Tarot Cards Read

This isn’t necessarily a fall thing, but it always reminds me of Halloween for some reason. But go get those cards read and see what your future holds!

Drive Through the Gorgeous Leaves on a Road Trip

What better way to see the changing of the fall leaves than by having a long drive and getting to observe the gorgeous colors of the season. The best place to do a fall road trip is New England. Check out this article for the best cities to visit on a New England road trip.

Press Fallen Leaves

Maybe even do some fun leaf etchings! This is a great idea for little ones, or if you’re a journaler, then it’s a great way to commemorate the season.

Roast Pumpkin Seeds

After you’re done carving your jack-o-lanterns, clean those pumpkin seeds and roast them up! Season them with salt and maybe some other warm spices, and spread them out on a baking sheet. Put them in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, shaking them at the halfway mark. And let me know how they come out!

Visit a Graveyard

Nothing is spookier than visiting a graveyard at night. Some graveyards embrace the spooky and even have movie nights there. Or visit during the day and visit some loved ones, and find some old headstones.

Explore a National Park

Fall is a great time to visit National Parks. They’re not as busy as summertime, and they’re just as beautiful, or if you visit Acadia National Park, it’s even more beautiful because you get to see all of the fall colors.

Light Fall Candles

Embrace the autumnal season with my favorite part of fall. All the fall smells. Get that pumpkin spice, apple spice, spiced fireplace candle lit, and lay beside it with a book and a mug of apple cider.

Host or Participate in a Chili Competition

Chili is a tasty fall meal, and everyone has their own recipe. There is no better way to enjoy it than by eating like 10 bowls of different kinds of chili, and voting on it. Or maybe you have a world class chili recipe, and you want to show it off. Participate in a local competish.

Dress Up for Halloween

Or daily life. I mean it is fall after all. Dressing up for Halloween is the best part of the season. Even if you’re not having a Halloween party, get dressed for trick or treating and pass out candy from your beautifully decorated house.

Complete your Fall Bucket List by Inviting Your Pals Over for Friendsgiving

Thanksgiving it the tastiest celebration of them all, and it’s all about bringing friends and family together. Everyone brings a side, and whoever hosts cooks a turkey. Have some good conversation and eat some yummy food to complete your fall bucket list.

Print out this fall bucket list to hang up somewhere you see every day. Cross it off as you get to do all of these fun fall activities or pin it for later!
